A Coin for Peace (BNC)
To celebrate peace as a noble ideal, to which all citizens should contribute, the Portuguese Republic issues this commemorative coin. In this way, this coin, just like peace, can be in everyone's hands.
The artist invited for this project was José Teixeira, a sculptor with several works in the public space, a professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, and an experienced professional in medal and coin design.
May the symbolic power of this coin remind all Portuguese, Europeans and all citizens of the world that peace must remain an ideal to be attained on a daily basis.
